Imaging Technologist Trainee
About The Position
Harborview Medical Center's Radiology department has an outstanding opportunity for a Radiology Technologist Trainee. This role involves performing diagnostic radiograph exams, transferring and positioning patients, providing immobilization, selecting proper technical factors, and operating radiographic equipment. The trainee will also be responsible for using Computed Radiography equipment, PACS, the Hospital Information System, and the Radiology Information System, as well as printing and retrieving images and implementing downtime procedures. Additionally, the role includes providing radiation protection, assisting in administering contrast media, educating patients and families, reviewing and QC'ing their own work with assistance, maintaining records, and ensuring a clean and well-stocked working environment. Adherence to basic asepsis and sterile techniques is also required.
Requirements
- Current enrollment in a formal AMA-approved Radiologic Technology training program
- Registered as an X-Ray Technician by the State of Washington
Responsibilities
- Performs diagnostic radiograph exams as assigned by Lead or Supervisor.
- Transferring and positioning patients as well as providing immobilization.
- Provide positioning devices as required and select proper technical factors and operate radiographic equipment.
- Able to operate the following equipment/systems: Computed Radiography equipment, PACS, the Hospital information System, and the Radiology Information System.
- Able to print and retrieve images.
- Can implement downtime procedures as needed.
- Provides radiation protection prescribed by safety standards for patients, self and other hospital personnel.
- Assists in administrating contrast media.
- Provides the appropriate education to patients and their families prior to and post radiology procedure.
- Reviews and QC's own work with assistance from technologist.
- Maintains adequate computer and/or written records using the Radiology Information Systems.
- Help maintain a clean and well-stocked working environment.
- Adheres to and understands basic asepsis and sterile techniques to avoid contamination of equipment and supplies and infection of patients and self.
