Imaging Technologist I or II, Multi-Modal CT/X-Ray - Clear Lake Campus (S/T/W, 7p-7a, Call Requirement)
About The Position
This is an open-pooled position where applicants' education and experience will be considered, and the position may be filled at a lower or higher level as appropriate. The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two medical imaging modalities, with a primary focus on MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray. They perform imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients as requested by a physician or licensed provider, under the general supervision of a Radiologist, for the diagnosis of disease and injury according to established protocols. The technologist must effectively explain procedures to patients and ensure competence in performing them, while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation. The Multi-modality Technologist I will meet all qualifications for their certified modalities and work a minimum of 40% of the time in a second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses. The Multi-modality Technologist II also provides quality imaging and patient care within two medical imaging modalities. Requirements
- Imaging Technologist I: Associates of Applied Science OR Graduate of an accredited Radiology program.
- Imaging Technologist I: Enrolled in or have completed second Imaging Modality program.
- Imaging Technologist I: Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists - (ARRT)(R), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
- Imaging Technologist I: Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.
- Imaging Technologist I: Registry in a second modality must be completed within 18 months of hire or transfer date.
- Imaging Technologist I: American Heart Association BLS.
- Imaging Technologist II: High School Diploma or GED.
- Imaging Technologist II: Three (3) Years’ Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality.
- Imaging Technologist II: One (1) Year Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality.
- Imaging Technologist II: Two (2) Certifications from one or more of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
- Imaging Technologist II: Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.
- Imaging Technologist II: American Heart Association BLS.

Responsibilities
- Provides quality imaging and patient care within two medical imaging modalities.
- Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider.
- Performs procedures under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.
- Effectively explains the procedure to the patient.
- Ensures competence in the procedure being performed.
- Provides care to patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
- Meets all qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified.
- Works a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality.
- May require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.
