About The Position

This is an open-pooled position where applicants' education/experience will be considered, and the position may be filled at a lower or higher level as appropriate. The Multi-modality Technologist I provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities, with MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray as the primary modality. They perform imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider, under the general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The Technologist I must effectively explain procedures to patients, be competent in performing them, and provide care while obtaining diagnostic quality images. They will meet all qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified and work a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses. Requirements

For Imaging Technologist I: Associates of Applied Science OR Graduate of an accredited Radiology program
For Imaging Technologist I: Enrolled in or have completed second Imaging Modality program
Required Certification from one of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technology (ARRT), American Registry for Diagnostic Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT)
For Imaging Technologist I: Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.
For Imaging Technologist I: Registry in a second modality must be completed within 6 months of hire or transfer date.
American Heart Association BLS.
For Imaging Technologist II: High School Diploma or GED
For Imaging Technologist II: Three (3) Years’ Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality
For Imaging Technologist II: One (1) Year Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality
For Imaging Technologist II: Two (2) Certifications from one or more of the following credentialing organizations: American Registry of Radiologic Technologists (ARRT), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography (ARDMS), American Registry for Diagnostic Medical Sonography - Vascular Technologist (RVT-VT), Nuclear Medicine Technology Certification Board (NMTCB), or American Registry of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Technologists (ARMRIT).
For Imaging Technologist II: Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.

Responsibilities

Provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities.
Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider.
Performs procedures under general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols.
Effectively explains the procedure to the patient.
Ensures competence in the procedure being performed.
Provides care to the patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist.
Meets all of the qualifications and requirements for the modalities in which they are certified.
Works a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality.
May require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.
