About The Position

This is an open-pooled position where applicants' education/experience will be considered, and the position may be filled at a lower or higher level as appropriate. The Multi-modality Technologist provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities, with a primary focus on MRI, CT, Mammography, or X-ray. Procedures are performed on ambulatory and hospital patients in a clinic or hospital setting as requested by the ordering physician or other licensed provider, under the general supervision of a Radiologist for the diagnosis of disease and injury in accordance with established protocols. The technologist must be able to effectively explain procedures to patients and ensure they are competent in performing them. Additionally, the technologist will provide care to patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images for interpretation by a Radiologist. The position may require flex shifts and support at different UTMB Campuses.

Requirements

  • Imaging Technologist I: Associates of Applied Science OR Graduate of an accredited Radiology program.
  • Imaging Technologist I: Enrolled in or have completed second Imaging Modality program.
  • Imaging Technologist I: Certification from ARRT, ARDMS, RVT-VT, NMTCB, or ARMRIT.
  • Imaging Technologist I: Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.
  • Imaging Technologist I: Registry in a second modality must be completed within 6 months of hire or transfer date.
  • Imaging Technologist I: American Heart Association BLS.
  • Imaging Technologist II: High School Diploma or GED.
  • Imaging Technologist II: Three (3) Years’ Experience in the Primary Imaging Modality.
  • Imaging Technologist II: One (1) Year Experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality.
  • Imaging Technologist II: Two (2) Certifications from ARRT, ARDMS, RVT-VT, NMTCB, or ARMRIT.
  • Imaging Technologist II: Registration as a Medical Radiologic Technologist (MRT-GC) through the Texas Medical Board, if applicable.
  • Imaging Technologist II: American Heart Association BLS.

Nice To Haves

  • Imaging Technologist I: Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred.
  • Imaging Technologist I: Three - six months experience in the Secondary Imaging Modality.
  • Imaging Technologist I: Experience and/or Registry in Computed Tomography (CT).
  • Imaging Technologist II: Associate's Degree - Strongly Preferred.
  • Imaging Technologist II: Experience and/or Registry in Computed Tomography (CT).

Responsibilities

  • Provides quality imaging and patient care within two (2) medical imaging modalities.
  • Performs imaging procedures on ambulatory and hospital patients.
  • Explains procedures to patients.
  • Provides care to patients while obtaining diagnostic quality images.
  • Works a minimum of 40% of the time in the second modality.
