About The Position

The Imaging Tech is responsible for interviewing patients to obtain history, informing them about safety, contrast media contraindications, and procedures. They maintain a safe environment in the MRI Suite, position patients, provide instructions, and enter patient information accurately into the computer. The technologist selects appropriate protocols, scans, and techniques, making adjustments as necessary to produce imaging of optimal standards for radiologist interpretation. They also complete archiving responsibilities, perform PACS duties, exam import, and may perform duties as a C-arm, fluoro, CT, and procedure technologist. Adherence to attendance and call duties is required. The role involves demonstrating the hospital's philosophy, mission, and values, practicing customer service principles, and maintaining confidentiality. Positive working relationships and adherence to the hospital's Guidelines for Appropriate Conduct are expected. The technologist must utilize age/developmental stage concepts in patient interactions.

Requirements

  • Current CPR certification
  • Registration through the American Registry of Radiologic Technologists and the State of Arkansas.
  • Minimum of two (2) years experience as technologist in a surgical setting or demonstrates acceptable knowledge/experience.

Responsibilities

  • Interviews patients for the purpose of obtaining patient history and informing patients regarding patient safety, contrast media contraindications and patient procedures.
  • Maintains a safe environment for the patient, staff, and visitors in and around the MRI Suite.
  • Positions patients appropriately; provide instructions related to breathing, communication, observation and length of sequences/exam.
  • Enters required patient information accurately into the computer; selects appropriate protocol, scans, and techniques in accordance with protocol within acceptable time frames; makes adjustments as necessary.
  • Produces imaging in accordance with optimum standards for radiologist interpretation.
  • Completes archiving responsibilities on each patient.
  • Performs assigned responsibilities including PACS duties and exam import.
  • Performs assigned responsibilities as C-arm, fluoro, CT, and procedure technology as necessary.
  • Adheres to attendance and call duties.
  • Demonstrates the spirit of the philosophy, mission, and values of the hospital through words and actions and implements them into departmental processes, programs, and the working environment.
  • Applies the principles and values of customer service and continuous quality improvement while performing day to day activities of the position.
