About The Position

The Imaging Services Student Tech assists with department workflow while learning the basics of radiology. Shifts rotate according to department needs and student availability; schedules may include days and evenings and are coordinated with the student’s educational needs. The position works as needed in alignment with the student’s school schedule and department needs. Applicants must be active second-year students at an ARRT-, ARDMS-, CNMT-, or NMCTB-approved school.

Requirements

• Must be an active second-year student in an ARRT-, ARDMS-, CNMT-, or NMCTB-approved school.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR).
• Act 31 Child Abuse Reporting clearance, with renewal.
• Act 33 clearance, with renewal.
• Act 34 clearance, with renewal.
• Act 73 FBI clearance, with renewal.

Responsibilities

• Depending on the modality, use complex imaging equipment to acquire, analyze, reconstruct, and document image data, and complete procedures according to protocol under the supervision of a Radiologist or Technologist.
• Under a Technologist’s supervision, perform daily equipment inspections and warm-up procedures and follow the Quality Control Program.
• Assist a Radiologist and Technologist with setting up contrast; never load or prime the injector.
• Obtain quality images while following radiation safety standards and protocols.
• Assist with patient positioning and exams, but never hold the detector or patients for radiation procedures.
• Arrive patients, track exams, scan scripts, and schedule exams in the Radiology Information Systems.
• Assist Radiologists and Technologists with modality-specific exams.
• Maintain clinical proficiency for completed competencies and equipment skills.
