About The Position

UPMC Presbyterian is seeking an Imaging Services Student Tech to join its Radiology Team. This role offers flexible hours designed to accommodate school and clinical schedules, including every-other-weekend shifts. The Imaging Services Student Tech performs imaging-related tasks at a technical level under the direct supervision of a registered technologist, providing hands-on learning integrated with clinical education. This position is presented as an excellent opportunity to begin an imaging career.

Requirements

• Must be an active 2nd year student in ARRT, ARDMS, CNMT, or NMCTB approved school.
• Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)

Responsibilities

• Perform imaging procedures according to established protocols under the supervision of a Radiologist or Registered Technologist, depending on modality.
• Utilize imaging equipment for the acquisition, analysis, reconstruction, and documentation of image data under supervision.
• Complete daily equipment inspections, warm-up procedures, and quality control activities under the guidance of a Technologist.
• Assist Radiologists and Technologists with contrast setup; will not load or prime injectors.
• Obtain quality images while adhering to radiation safety standards and departmental protocols.
• Assist with patient positioning and exam performance; will not hold detectors or patients during radiation procedures.
• Arrive patients, track exams, scan orders, and schedule exams using Radiology Information Systems.
• Support Radiologists and Technologists during modality-specific procedures.
• Maintain clinical proficiency for all completed competencies and equipment skills.
