Performs direct patient care in a compassionate and timely manner and applies the art and skill of diagnostic imaging through the safe and effective use of radiologic technology. This role involves evaluating patients, explaining procedures, preparing patients, and ensuring their comfort, privacy, and safety during imaging procedures. The professional will also monitor patient condition and medical equipment, and report any changes. They will perform routine diagnostic radiographs, calculate and select appropriate technical factors, assess image quality, and competently perform specialty procedures. Additionally, they will assist physicians with fluoroscopic and specialty exams, perform IV injections, identify images correctly, and provide radiation protection. The role also includes participating in performance improvement projects, quality control testing, and assisting with audits. Furthermore, the professional will participate in the education and instruction of students and the orientation of new staff.
