About The Position

Mount Sinai Medical Center is seeking an Imaging Patient Transporter to assist technologists with patient-related functions, including transporting patients, supplies, films, and reports. The role involves assisting with film processing and copying to ensure efficient patient flow, cleaning and stocking rooms, and utilizing the Patient Tracking program for transport requests. The transporter must exercise proper safety precautions when handling diagnostic equipment and notify appropriate personnel of patient arrivals. Responsibilities also include retrieving films from the Film Library when necessary, implementing Standard Precautions, transporting crash carts, answering phones, and demonstrating commitment to customer service and operational excellence. Attendance at departmental staff meetings is also required.

  • Ability to lift up to 100 lbs
  • 0-5 years of experience with similar skills as required for this position

Responsibilities

  • Provides assistance to the technologists with patient related functions as requested.
  • Assists in transporting of patients, supplies, films and reports to/from department as workload demands.
  • Assists with processing and copying films in order to maintain an efficient patient flow through department.
  • Assists with cleaning and/or stocking rooms, as needed or requested by supervisor.
  • Demonstrates knowledge and the ability to utilize the Patient Tracking program used for requesting patient transport, by both phone or computer.
  • Exercises proper safety precautions and good judgment when handling and transporting any diagnostic equipment.
  • Notifies appropriate department personnel of patient's arrival in the department to ensure efficient patient throughput.
  • Assists in coordinating requests for procedures with patient's films when necessary.
  • When staffing limitations require, are able to retrieve films and /or master jackets from either the Film Library or the mezzanine.
  • Implements Standard Precautions on all patients at all times, as directed by hospital policy.
  • Transports crash cart to Central Supply for maintenance/restocking as necessary.
  • Answers phones as needed and requested, in order to provide efficient service to whomever is calling.
  • Demonstrates commitment to uphold the standards of customer services and operation excellence program on a daily basis.
  • Attends month departmental staff meetings as scheduled.
