The Imaging Patient Assistant assists patients in preparation for exams, provides basic instructions regarding routine procedures, and transports patients between exam rooms and departments. They also escort patients, families, and visitors as needed. This role utilizes radiology computer systems for requisitions, schedules, and patient information. Responsibilities include organizing and preparing exam rooms, stocking supplies, and maintaining equipment. The assistant greets patients and visitors, answers the telephone, screens calls, schedules appointments, and takes messages. They act as a liaison between physicians, radiologists, and technologists, and provide radiology reports and images upon request. The role involves filing, retrieving, and releasing health information records and films, compiling film jackets/discs, and completing documentation. They also document information, communicate patient observations to the healthcare team, and perform routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment. Additionally, they assist with screening and documenting MRI implants. The position requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care, demonstrating knowledge of growth and development across the life span and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
