The Imaging Patient Assistant assists patients in preparation for exams, provides basic instructions for routine procedures, and transports patients between exam rooms and departments. They escort patients, families, and visitors as needed. This role utilizes radiology computer systems for requisitions, schedules, and patient information. The assistant is responsible for organizing and preparing exam rooms, including cleaning, stocking, ordering supplies, and maintaining equipment. They greet patients and visitors, answer routine requests, screen calls, schedule appointments, and take messages. The position acts as a liaison between physicians, radiologists, and technologists, and provides radiology reports and images upon request. Responsibilities also include filing, retrieving, and releasing health information records, compiling film jackets/discs, and completing documentation. The assistant documents information, communicates observations to the healthcare team, and performs routine maintenance and quality monitoring of imaging equipment. They may also assist with screening and documenting MRI implants. The role requires demonstrating knowledge and skills for age-appropriate patient care, understanding growth and development principles, and assessing patient status based on age-specific needs.
