Routinely works in and performs diagnostic studies according to specific guidelines and prescribed protocols while utilizing appropriate radiation protection measures for 2 or more of the following modalities: X-ray, MRI, CT, or Mammography. The Fond du Lac campus will have emergency care, 10 inpatient beds, and 24/7 coverage with board-certified emergency medicine physicians. For patients requiring additional care, observation and tests, Computed Tomography (CT) scans, x-ray, and ultrasound services will be provided. This role provides professional, empathetic, and compassionate care to team members, patients, families, and significant others. It involves greeting patients and their families, assisting patients with dressing/undressing, transporting or ambulating patients, and assisting patients with comfort needs. The position requires demonstrating working knowledge of equipment and safety practices in the areas of responsibility, and exhibiting competency and skills needed to perform radiology procedures according to manufacturer, medical/department standards and protocols, and setting appropriate technical parameters to accurately demonstrate anatomy and pathology. It also requires demonstrating competency in intravenous access and administration of contrast in accordance with established protocols, and being knowledgeable regarding types and uses of contrast, as well as recognizing and responding to contrast reactions, side effects and extravasations including proper documentation. Completing department tasks such as stocking supplies, checking outdated supplies, performing safety audits or tracking, and cleaning rooms and equipment to remain compliant with requirements, regulations, and policies is also part of the role. Providing practical instruction for patients, families, and other health care professionals, and applying critical thinking skills and ensuring order accuracy when triaging and prioritizing patients are key responsibilities. Practicing safety at all times, which includes adhering to ALARA (as low as reasonably achievable) principles for proper radiation safety for self and patients, using mobilization and immobilization devices, following safe patient handling practices, following infection prevention practices (proper personal protective equipment), and following hand hygiene to comply with all government agencies or other regulatory bodies is essential. Completing documentation on time and accurately in accordance with department policy/procedure including proper image management and accurate documentation in electronic medical record is required. Additional duties as assigned for Community Hospitals include collecting laboratory samples and performing lab testing in accordance with CLIA regulations and established policies and procedures, demonstrating ability to perform laboratory Quality Controls and Assessments, and routine daily, weekly, monthly and periodic maintenance and function according to Laboratory Policy and Procedure. Staff will support a best-in-class patient experience by utilizing downtime as productively as possible, to include aiding in the Emergency Department and Inpatient Unit. Tasks include EKGs, obtaining vital signs, venous access w/ blood collection, measuring and fitting of ambulation aids, splinting, bladder scanning, and restraint application.
