About The Position

This is a full-time field position for an Imaging Equipment Technician II specializing in Cardiac Ultrasound. The role involves analyzing, troubleshooting, and repairing highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment and systems. The technician will also install, calibrate, and test new equipment, interact with clinical staff to ensure needs are met, and provide technical support. A significant portion of the work will focus on complex Diagnostic Imaging equipment, with a priority for candidates experienced in servicing Diagnostic Ultrasound equipment, particularly Cardiac Ultrasound. The position requires travel within the Greater Charlotte and potentially Winston-Salem Markets.

Requirements

  • A valid driver’s license issued by the Division of Motor Vehicles.
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Typically requires 2 years of experience in biomedical imaging, which includes digital imaging technology, and networking technology.
  • Demonstrated proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office or similar products (primarily Word and Excel).
  • Demonstrated proficiency and knowledge of networking technology.
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task several projects.
  • Excellent human relations and communications skills.
  • Valid state driver’s license.
  • Demonstrated leadership ability.
  • Use of personal vehicle for travel to various sites is required/expected.

Nice To Haves

  • Skilled imaging service technicians with five or more years of experience servicing and maintaining Diagnostic Ultrasound equipment (in particular Cardiac and/or Diagnostic Ultrasound)
  • Any additional general imaging/x-ray service experience being an added value for consideration.

Responsibilities

  • Analyzes, troubleshoots and repairs highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic imaging equipment and systems utilizing established electronic test and measurement equipment and techniques.
  • Installs, calibrates and tests highly complex new imaging equipment and/or systems.
  • Performs any required general service on imaging equipment and systems, in accordance with corporate and department procedures, manufacturers recommendations, physicists’ specifications and/or other applicable codes, standards, accreditation requirements, and state and federal regulations as applicable regarding radiographic and diagnostic imaging equipment.
  • Interacts with clinical staff on a regular basis to ensure needs are being met.
  • Provides technical support and assistance to imaging staff in their use of highly complex diagnostic and therapeutic Imaging devices.
  • Acts as a technical resource for Biomedical Technicians and Imaging Technicians to help them grow in ability, responsibility, and experience.
  • Assists in grooming Biomedical Equipment Tech's to provide first call on imaging equipment.
  • Documents and maintains accurate records of all inspections, repairs, adjustments, etc. performed on all equipment performed by self or a vendor.
  • Installs or assists in the installation of new imaging equipment, modifications, tubes, transformers, etc.
  • Assists in the training of imaging staff on the safe and proper use of equipment.
  • Interacts with manufacturers. Representatives to obtain the necessary technical product information.
  • As applicable, coordinates and communicates with a radiation physicist as part of equipment quality assurance testing, calibration, and disposal for site licensing needs with the State department of public health.
  • May assist imaging staff in the selection process for new equipment purchases and installations, may assist with service contract negotiations.
  • Makes recommendations for capital equipment replacements to Clinical Engineering Leadership.
  • Requests/orders necessary repair and spare parts according to established procedures and contract relationships.
  • Escalates situations or questions beyond their scope of knowledge or responsibility to appropriate staff.
  • Assists in the development of policies and procedures related to Imaging equipment maintenance and use.
  • Assists in research projects and/or new Imaging equipment evaluations.
