About The Position

Sharp HealthCare is seeking a Full-Time Imaging Assistant for a Day Shift position at Sharp Grossmont Hospital. This role involves assisting with Imaging Center procedures, including transporting and monitoring patients. The position is covered by a Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) with SEIU-UHW, requiring union membership within 31 days of hire. This position was initially posted for ratified SEIU members and is now available to internal non-union candidates or external candidates.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with completing Imaging Center procedures including transportation and monitoring patients to and from, as well as during Imaging Center procedures.
  • Process radiographic film using proper safelight technique.
  • Print images and make duplicates of films and/or digital images.
  • Display images on alternators for radiologist's interpretation using proper anatomical orientation.
  • Combine completed procedures with patient's Imaging jacket with the correct insert jacket and accuracy in name check and medical record number.
  • Scan appropriate patient documents into Synapse with attention to the correct patient identification of the form and in the electronic file.
  • Assist imaging procedures by greeting and escorting patients, assisting in transferring patients, observing patients during procedures, and transferring specimens.
  • Provide tech assistance by developing radiographs and/or images and assisting with moving patients during procedures.
  • Communicate patient status with nursing and Imaging staff.
  • Obtain Clinicomp Transport Form from patient's RN just prior to leaving the department and transfer it to the technologist.
  • Provide information regarding isolation and safety precautions.
  • Sign in and out of department to maintain smooth flow of work.
  • Relay Transport Form to the patient's RN upon returning from the Imaging Department with any appropriate updated information.
  • Communicate and document equipment malfunctions.
  • Actively participate in department and area specific meetings and focus groups.
  • Follow direction of supervision with attention to good listening skills and thorough follow up.
  • Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills and attitude towards the department, patients, visitors, physicians, coworkers, and supervisors.

  • Check patient's name band with name and second identifier, physician orders in chart and notify appropriate nursing staff of patient's departure.
  • Observe and maintain a safe environment for patients' medical devices (IV's, catheters, drainage and chest tubes, monitors and oxygen).
  • Provide documentation and communication in the event of compromises and/or changes.
  • Provide timely transportation to and from Imaging Center without delay or compromise in patient safety.
  • Maintain privacy, dignity, respect and comfort to patient during transportation.
  • Provide appropriate assistance to patient by asking for assistance when transferring patients to assure safety of self and patient.
  • Never transfer a patient from bed to gurney without assistance.
  • Accurately utilize IDXRAD tracking steps and use of Downtime Log forms when necessary.
  • Deliver STAT/ASAP and Emergency reports to appropriate areas without delay.
  • Assist in Film Library with correlating patient's previous jackets with correct inserts and comparison films available.
  • Proficient in Quick Report for faxing reports and CareCast or OCM order entry for lab and Engineering Work orders.
  • Able to perform required IDXRAD functionality to support patient, physician, patient care and patient inquiries.
  • Assist coworkers with tasks.
  • Maintain safe work environment.
  • Inform supervisor when available for work assignments.
  • Report for work or assignments on time.
  • Cooperate in troubleshooting potential and actual problems both internal and external to the department.
