About The Position

The Imaging Aide is responsible for completion of clerical duties, facilitates office workflow, and assists the customers of the Imaging Department. This role involves greeting and assisting patients, answering telephones, distributing patient information, preparing correspondence, and managing electronic image distribution. The Imaging Aide also assists with HIS/RIS/PACS systems, communicates STAT results, and facilitates internal communication. Additionally, they are responsible for delivering requests and mail within the department, maintaining office supplies, and implementing downtime procedures. Patient care functions include escorting patients, assisting technologists with patient movement, tending to patient comfort needs, obtaining medical history, completing studies in RIS, and preparing waiting rooms. The role also includes stocking linen and attending department meetings.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma, GED, or higher level of education.
  • Strong leadership ability.
  • Good organizational skills.
  • Independent and critical thinking skills.
  • Sound judgment.
  • Knowledge of legal aspects and liability of nursing practice.
  • Strong ability to communicate complex and/or controversial topics and concepts to a wide and diverse audience.
  • Knowledge of basic Office Equipment such as copier, fax machine, etc.
  • Basic working knowledge of computers and office equipment.

Responsibilities

  • Greeting and assisting all customers, providing direction when needed.
  • Answering the telephone using proper telephone etiquette.
  • Assisting with distribution of patient preps and screenings.
  • Placing courtesy calls to patients.
  • Preparing all correspondence for physician offices and other institutions.
  • Preparing and obtaining necessary release forms.
  • Burning DVDs/Sending images electronically when applicable.
  • Faxing/mailing reports when appropriate.
  • Assisting physicians and other staff with HIS/RIS/PACS systems.
  • Communicating STAT results to physician offices following department guidelines.
  • Facilitating internal communication with various departments.
  • Delivering and retrieving requests from technologist/radiologist office/reading room/work area.
  • Delivering imaging department mail.
  • Directing phone calls to appropriate location.
  • Maintaining workstation in optimum condition.
  • Assuring adequate office supplies are maintained.
  • Reporting any necessary malfunctions to supervisor.
  • Implementing downtime procedures when necessary.
  • Assisting in rescheduling of patients during equipment downtime.
  • Initiating established downtime procedures during HIS/RIS and PACS downtime.
  • Assisting in patient care functions.
  • Escorting patients to and from x-ray/scan rooms.
  • Assisting technologist in moving patient to and from various modalities/offices.
  • Tending to patient and family comfort needs.
  • Obtaining medical history related to the testing being performed.
  • Completing studies in RIS when needed.
  • Assisting in the preparation of exam/sub waiting room.
  • Stocking linen when needed.
  • Attending department meetings or reviewing meeting minutes.
  • Other duties as assigned.
