About The Position

The Director of Imaging Services is to proceed with own discretion within the established policies, procedures, and guidelines of the Authority to manage the Imaging department. He/she is responsible for overall management of the Imaging Department (CT, US, MRI, Nuclear Medicine, General Radiology, Mammography, and/or support staff). The Director is responsible for short-term and long-term planning for staffing, work progress, quality assurance, and equipment maintenance.

Requirements

  • Associates degree in radiography, ultrasound, or nuclear medicine program
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) within three months of hire.
  • AART, NMTCB or ARDMS certification.
  • Must be in good general health and demonstrate emotional stability.
  • Must be able to move intermittently throughout the day and provide the highest quality of care to all patients regardless of age, sex, religion, or disease state, neonates, infants, adolescents, adults, and geriatric patients.
  • Routine physical requirements include but are not limited to the following: Lift greater than thirty-five pounds utilizing mechanical systems or with additional personnel.
  • Pivot waist and neck.
  • Push and pull 50 lbs. or less.
  • Push and pull greater than 50 lbs. utilizing mechanical systems or with additional personnel.
  • Reach less than 5 feet.
  • Reach higher than five feet.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in radiography, ultrasound, or nuclear medicine program.
  • Management education in related fields.
  • Three to five years’ experience in a supervisory like position preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) certification awarded by the American Heart Association (AHA) at time of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Maintains high patient flow without degrading image quality or patient care by providing immediate supervision to work progress in assigned area(s).
  • Acts as communications link between technical and ancillary staff, Radiologists, and other clinic department.
  • Collaborates, communicates, and problem solves regularly with other Managers in all divisions of the department/hospital and across the system and establishes ongoing lines of communication with other Whitfield Regional Hospital departments to ensure resolution in a timely manner.
  • Selects new employees and performs orientation, timely performance reviews, and training; when necessary, assists in disciplinary action and dismissal procedures to maintain well-trained knowledgeable staff.
  • Oversee imaging and equipment quality control to ensure equipment is performing to manufacturers’ specifications.
  • Reports major equipment malfunctions to appropriate service representatives and maintains adequate documentation to ensure resolution in a timely manner.
  • Assists in the evaluation, selection, purchasing, installation, and start-up of capital equipment.
  • Aids in preparing capital equipment and operating budgets for the appropriate area(s) of responsibility to ensure budgetary guidelines are met.
  • Maintains ongoing quality control program in all assigned areas; corrects any unsafe practices or violations to ensure compliance.
  • Participates and prepares any necessary materials for Department Team Leader meetings, ongoing in-services, and the department meeting with the radiologists to ensure accurate information is provided.
  • Prepares Imaging Department statistics and reports to ensure compliance.
  • Maintains procurement, storage and routing of supplies to ensure availability as needed.
  • Keeps abreast of changes in Federal and State regulations and current practices in the field; communicates the need to change or modify section or department policies and procedures to maintain compliance as necessary; and participate in educational programs related to job functions.
  • Maintains and updates the Departments coding and billing structure to ensure accuracy.
  • Regular attendance is required in order to conduct the essential functions of the position.
  • Work beyond normal working hours and in other positions temporarily when necessary to effectively and efficiently perform duties within the Imaging Department.
  • Address personnel issues on an objective, strategic basis. Keep personnel matters confidential.
  • Possess the ability to resolve problems that may arise with diplomacy and perform disciplinary action as warranted in conjunction with Human Resources.
