About The Position

Lockheed Martin Missiles and Fire Control (MFC) is seeking an experienced Image Processing (IP) Engineer to join a highly skilled team of systems engineering technologists and algorithm developers supporting various contracts and IRADs. The IP Engineer will design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms for target detection and tracking, develop and verify models and simulations, evaluate system performance, and perform studies and analyses for ground and flight test efforts, including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities. Opportunities exist to join small teams on various programs in different stages of product development and support program reviews and technical interchange meetings.

Requirements

  • BS in electrical engineering, mechanical engineering, aerospace engineering, physics, computer science, applied mathematics, or similar STEM degree.
  • Candidate should be fluent in MATLAB, python, and c++
  • Candidate should have experience solving problems and relevant algorithm development experience in the related areas mentioned below: resolved and unresolved target detection image processing, low signature target detection & automatic target recognition / identification, image correction algorithms, scene generation, & non-uniformity correction, hyperspectral image processing techniques
  • The candidate should have been exposed to electro-optic phenomenology and optical system analysis as it applies to image/signal processing and/or general knowledge of detection and image tracking technologies.
  • Have experience implementing and debugging image processing algorithms running in a real-time environment and experience processing instrumented real-time system data.
  • Candidate be proficient in developing and validating C++ algorithm simulations and hardware models with real-time data collections
  • This position requires a government security clearance, you must be a US Citizen for consideration.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with linear algebra software packages
  • Strong programming skills that can translate to C++ development in a Linux environment
  • Experience deploying algorithms that satisfy real-time performance requirements
  • Knowledge of electro-optical/infrared detection technology, optics, and principles of radiometry
  • Familiarity with clutter rejection techniques
  • Knowledge and experience with Modelling and Simulation of EOIR systems
  • Familiarity with deployable AI/ML topologies as they relate to target detection

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and deploy embedded algorithms that support unresolved (point-source) and resolved target detection and tracking
  • Develop, verify, and validate both complex models and simulations that utilize match filters, convolutional neural networks, and other such techniques to detect targets of interest.
  • Evaluate system performance in complex scenarios and environments and verify system and subsystem level requirements
  • Perform critical studies, analyses, and test activities that support ground and flight test efforts including Hardware-In-The-Loop (HWIL) activities
  • Support program reviews and technical interchange meetings with internal leadership and/or external customers
