We are seeking a creative, forward-thinking individual to lead the development of innovative product solutions in the life insurance and annuity markets. The Product Development Director is responsible for defining and shaping innovative product solutions for ILFS. This role drives the earliest and most critical stages of the product development lifecycle—opportunity definition, ideation, feasibility, and strategic alignment—to ensure OneAmerica Financial delivers differentiated product offerings that elevate the customer experience and support long term, scalable growth. The Director exercises significant independent judgment, influences executive level decisions, and acts as a catalyst for organizational innovation.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in business, finance, or related field required.
  • 10+ years of experience in insurance or financial service industry, with 5+ in insurance product management/development, or strategic product roles.
  • Advanced expertise in whole life, VUL, and annuities (fixed and indexed).
  • Proven record of launching successful, innovative products or platforms.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • High attention to detail and commitment to quality.
  • Highly collaborative, with the credibility to engage senior executives.
  • Ability to creatively navigate complex scenarios and achieve strategic objectives.
  • Broad understanding of insurance distribution channels (Career, PPGA, IMO/BGA).
  • Strong in all Microsoft Office applications.

Responsibilities

  • Translate complex customer needs, technology trends, and market dynamics into actionable product and market opportunities.
  • Drive new product concepts through the early product development phases—opportunity definition, full ideation, and feasibility/viability assessment.
  • Partner closely with pricing, compliance, marketing, technology, and other cross functional teams to ensure enterprise alignment on scope, viability, and strategic timing.
  • Produce comprehensive, compelling, and executive ready business cases that articulate opportunity value, strategic fit, customer impact, and financial viability.
  • Build and maintain trusted, influential relationships with distribution partners and key internal stakeholders across the enterprise.
