About The Position

TransUnion's Summer Internship Program offers a 12-week paid experience beginning in May or June, depending on the academic calendar. Interns will conduct research projects, either independently or as part of a team, under the guidance of a senior member of the Data Science & Analytics team. The project scope will be designed to be achievable within the internship duration and total hours. Upon completion, the supervisor will assess the quality, completeness, and usefulness of the work. This internship provides an opportunity to gain practical knowledge of analytic applications in industries that use consumer credit data, potentially including direct participation in actual customer projects. The program includes engaging events such as career development workshops, networking events, and guest speakers. Requirements

  • Must be graduating by June 2028 or earlier and currently enrolled in an undergraduate or graduate program in data science, statistics, mathematics, engineering, operations research, economics, or a related quantitative field.
  • Must be graduating by June 2028 or earlier and currently pursuing an undergraduate degree in information systems, computer science, analytics, or business with technical coursework.
  • Experience with Big Data Technologies including Apache Hadoop, Hive, Spark, Python, etc.
  • Experience writing SQL queries.
  • Strong written language skills and familiarity with technical documents such as data dictionaries and process flow diagrams.
  • Able to write instructions and procedural documentation.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with development and analysis of identity data using advanced data science techniques.
  • Help develop data quality measurement techniques.
  • Assist with developing a user interface, geared towards hundreds of data scientists who are using the Big Data platform, in finding various data assets and other capabilities within the platform.
  • Produce operational dashboards and reports to manage this critical Big Data platform.
  • Update and maintain internal web pages to track and report on data assets.
  • Maintain data dictionaries and prepare documentation of data analyses performed.
  • Analyze and evaluate new data assets TransUnion is interested in.
