About The Position

Group 1001 is a consumer-centric, technology-driven family of insurance companies on a mission to deliver outstanding value and operational performance by combining financial strength and stability with deep insurance expertise and a can-do culture. Group1001’s culture emphasizes the importance of collaboration, communication, core business focus, risk management, and striving for outcomes. This goal extends to how we hire and onboard our most valuable assets – our employees. Why This Role Matters: This intern position offers hands-on experience with the IAM team and industry-standard identity solutions (SailPoint, Terraform, Entra/AD) within the financial services sector. Intern(s) would work directly with Group1001 engineers on high-impact projects from automating access management workflows (SailPoint) to developing security solutions that protect billions in assets. Beyond the technical skills, interns would gain unique exposure to Platform Engineering operations while receiving mentorship from both industry veterans and early-career engineers. How You’ll Contribute: Identity Risk Scoring System – build an engine that calculates risk scores for user identities, including but not limited to access patterns, role combinations, login behaviors, and policy violations. This would involve tying together of major products at the firm. Application Dependency Mapper – build a tool that maps relationships between applications and user roles / groups. This would result in identifying access dependencies, role hierarchies, integration points, and usage patterns, creating a tangible understanding of internal access management complexities. Note: Main accountabilities are not limited to the projects listed above. What We’re Looking For: Undergraduate students completing their sophomore or junior year pursuing Identity Management and Security, Computer Science or Information Technology Majors. Availability to work full-time hours over the summer. Interest in solving identity problems with well-structured practice and code.
