Identification Technician I is an entry-level position. Incumbents of the Identification Technician I position undergo on-the-job training to develop the competencies necessary to classify and identify fingerprints independently as required of Identification Technicians II. In addition to receiving on-the-job training, incumbents perform clerical and technical job duties. Identification Technician I is a (rotating) Emergency position. Consequently, incumbents must periodically report to work under emergency conditions such as during states of emergency declared by the Governor of the Commonwealth or by the federal government. Identification Technicians I undergo a training period of roughly 12 months to develop the knowledge and skills needed to qualify for advancement to Identification Technician II. The final candidates for this position will undergo extensive pre-employment screening which includes a background investigation and drug test.
