About The Position

Under the supervision of the Administrators, the IDD Instructor supervises and sets up vocational jobs. They also develop and implement habilitative day training programs for assigned individuals. The role involves supervising Group Supervisors, Team Leaders, and Direct Support Professionals (DSPs) in the implementation of vocational services and training programs. The IDD Instructor serves as a liaison between Milestone Industries and the residential program, communicating individual needs, progress, and concerns. They are a productive member of the interdisciplinary team, preparing reports and developing individual habilitation programs. This role also includes managing and monitoring behavioral management programs, vocational job setups, quality checks, and time studies. The instructor is responsible for computer data entry, ensuring vocational equipment is functioning correctly, and managing parts for jobs. They review and monitor programmatic documentation, complete assessments, and supervise vocational training sessions. The IDD Instructor also functions as a trainer for direct care staff, a facility supervisor in the absence of administrators, and proposes policy suggestions. They coordinate community integration opportunities and intervene in human rights issues. Other duties as assigned include notifying supervisors of emergencies and participating in safety drills.

Requirements

  • Minimum age of 21.
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Special Education, Vocational Education, or related field.
  • Must be able to intervene in behavioral or health related crisis.
  • One Year supervisory experience.
  • Valid Driver’s License.
  • Authorized Milestone Driver.

Responsibilities

  • Completes annual evaluations of Group Supervisors, Team Leaders, and DSPs.
  • Functions as a trainer for direct care staff.
  • Functions as an on-duty facility supervisor in the absence of administrators.
  • Proposes policies, procedures, and program suggestions.
  • Supervises and participates in safety drills.
  • Coordinates community integration opportunities.
  • Intervenes on behalf of individuals served in human rights issues and reports appropriately.
  • Notifies supervisors of emergency or unusual situations.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
