We are hiring for: IDD Facility Nurse (RN) Type: Regular. Requirements

  • Graduation from an accredited practical nursing program
  • Valid state Licensed Practical Nurse certification
  • Experience working with individuals with developmental and intellectual disabilities preferred
  • Valid driver’s license and auto insurance
  • Ability to lift between 20 and 50 pounds and provide CPR after certification
  • Ability to pass a background check and drug screen
  • Ability to remain calm in crisis situations
  • Excellent listening and communication skills
  • Can pick up on nonverbal communication
  • Eager to work on nonstandard nursing assignments
  • Complete criminal background check
  • Name checked in the registries. (OIG exclusions database, Child Abuse Registry, and Offenders Against Individuals with Developmental Disabilities)
  • Drug testing
  • Education verification and other credentialing based on position requirements.
  • Proof of employment history or references (if required)
  • Positions that require driving Proof of driver's license, driver's insurance, and vehicle, IF required for providing transportation for individuals.

Responsibilities

  • Provide professional care to service users, aimed at preventing disease and maintaining good health care.
  • Provide health-related training to the staff and people supported.
  • Provide routine nursing assessments.
  • Assist with ensuring preventative and routine medical appointments are scheduled.
  • Be an active participant in each individual’s person-centered plan to help them reach their fullest potential.
  • Interact with staff at the RHA office as well as in the residential homes.
  • Assists RN and professional staff in delivering quality nursing services to persons supported.
  • Administers specified medications.
  • Removes expired medications from circulation and access.
  • Takes historical information and records persons' supported vital signs.
  • Observes person's supported mannerisms and reports adverse reactions to medication or treatment as needed.
  • Advocates for individuals with IDD.
  • Participates as an intricate part of the interdisciplinary team for the people we support.
