About The Position

This position involves learning, performing, and rotating between the roles of packer, scaler, styler, and grader to maintain line speeds on various products at the designated rate. The role requires active participation in team development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies. Team members are expected to foster cohesiveness, identify areas lacking cohesion, and work collaboratively to resolve issues and achieve synergy. Familiarity with Simmons' operating systems, including quality, security, office environment, company policies, and LEAN principles, is essential. This role also includes performing other duties as necessary to support business objectives. The position requires the ability to move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds, and to bend, stoop, walk, stand, and work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for the entire shift. It involves repetitive motion and may include rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant. Standard personal protective equipment includes waterproof gloves, sleeves, and hearing protection. Military experience is valued, and veterans are welcome.

Requirements

Must be able to move, push, or pull up to 50 pounds from table to scales at waist level.
Must be able to bend, stoop, walk, stand, and work in a cold, wet, noisy, dusty environment for the entire shift.
Must be able to perform repetitive motion.
May include rotating through cold and hot areas of the plant.
Wear standard waterproof gloves, sleeves, and hearing protection.

Responsibilities

Learn, perform, and rotate between the positions of packer, scaler, styler, and grader.
Maintain line speeds on any given product at the designated rate for that product.
Spread or style product by hand on a moving conveyor belt using both hands.
Perform multiple types of packing and weighing.
Pull bones from product.
Inspect, grade, and remove product that does not meet standards.
Participate as a member of the Team, contributing to ongoing development, communication, and implementation of team concepts, programs, and policies.
Coordinate work to ensure best practices with all team members.
Attend appropriate team meetings.
Foster strong cohesiveness regarding all major issues (e.g., direction, annual plan, budget, policy changes).
Accept responsibility to quickly identify any areas that lack cohesiveness, bringing them to the attention of the team leader and working with the team in a supportive manner to resolve issues.
Actively look for ways and reinforce actions needed to achieve synergy possible within the larger organization.
Maintain familiarity with Simmons’ established operating systems (e.g. quality, security, office environment, company policies, LEAN).
Understand the responsibility to maintain familiarity with the systems and this position’s role in support of these systems.
Consider the impact of individual actions on the systems and the responsibility to communicate concerns and improvement ideas.
Perform other duties as necessary in support of business objectives.
