About The Position

The Telemetry Technician is responsible for continuous electrocardiographic monitoring, interpretation, and notification of patients’ heart rhythms. This role involves performing continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms from a centralized telemetry department, skillfully recognizing and interpreting cardiac rhythms, and completing measurements and documentation per policy and department standards. The technician will effectively communicate with members of the care team regarding rhythm interpretations and provide excellent customer service. Additionally, the role supports daily department workflow through effective coordination, communication, and prioritization, and collaborates with biomedical and information services to maintain and troubleshoot electronic monitoring equipment. Daily inventory and cleaning of telemetry monitoring boxes are also part of the responsibilities.

Requirements

  • Must be 18 years of age
  • High School diploma or GED preferred
  • Ability to move freely (standing, stooping, walking, bending, pushing, and pulling) and lift up to a maximum of twenty-five (25) pounds without assistance
  • Job classification is exposed to blood borne pathogens (blood or bodily fluids) while performing job duties
  • Position requires compliance with department specific competencies.

Responsibilities

  • Performs continuous monitoring of cardiac rhythms from a centralized telemetry department.
  • Skillfully recognizes and interprets cardiac rhythms.
  • Completes measurement and documentation per policy and department standards.
  • Effectively communicates with members of the care team regarding the rhythm interpretation.
  • Provides customer service including responding to frequent and potentially complex questions from internal and external customers in a timely, positive, and professional manner.
  • Assists in supporting daily department workflow through effective coordination, communication, and prioritization of department activities.
  • Collaborates with biomedical and information services to maintain and troubleshoot electronic monitoring equipment.
  • Performs daily inventory and cleaning of telemetry monitoring boxes.
