About The Position

The ICU at Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is a 14-bed unit known for great nurse-to-patient ratios and a shared governance model. The Registered Nurse is a professional nurse registered in Massachusetts, responsible and accountable for planning and providing patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care. This role requires initiative, knowledge, and clinical skills to care for patients with complex needs, demonstrating the ability to effectively manage patients by assuming full responsibility for assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of patient care. The Staff Nurse will also ensure the practice of the Patient and Family Centered Care Model in an environment that exemplifies best practice. Brigham and Women's Faulkner Hospital is a 249-bed non-profit, community teaching hospital located in Jamaica Plain, a designated Magnet hospital by the American Nurses Credentialing Center.

Requirements

  • BSN required
  • Massachusetts Registered Nurse Licensure required
  • BLS Certification for Healthcare Providers required
  • Must obtain ACLS prior to end of orientation and may not practice independently without ACLS
  • Minimum of 2 years of acute care nursing experience required
  • Good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Show evidence of the basic analytic thinking necessary to care for a group of patients
  • Ability to demonstrate observational skills and the ability to set priorities
  • Ability to adhere to all I.C.A.R.E. standards
  • Must be able to function under stress with good interpersonal and communication skills
  • Must demonstrate effective skills in applying hospital standards in area of service, team work, communication, respect for others, and time/priority management

Nice To Haves

  • ICU experience preferred
  • CCRN preferred

Responsibilities

  • Plan and provide patient care for assigned patients in accordance with Nursing Standards of Care as set forth in the Nursing Department's Clinical Practice Manual
