The ICU Nursing Assistant will assist the RN with the daily care of patients in the Critical Care Unit. This includes providing direct patient care such as bathing, oral hygiene, feeding, and assisting with ambulation and transfers. The role involves monitoring vital signs, documenting patient data in the Electronic Medical Record (EMR), performing purposeful rounding, and promptly communicating patient needs to the RN. The Nursing Assistant will also participate in patient admissions, transfers, and discharges, manage patient call lights, collect specimens, and perform various errands. Additionally, the position requires assisting with patient positioning, nutritional needs, maintaining skin integrity, and potentially performing tasks like removing IVs, providing post-mortem care, and bladder scans under RN direction. Adherence to infection prevention policies, including hand hygiene and aseptic procedures, is crucial. The role requires the ability to provide age-appropriate care based on an understanding of growth and development principles.
