About The Position

We are seeking a ICU Charge Nurse. The ICU Charge Nurse will be responsible for overseeing the nursing staff and operations within the Intensive Care Unit (ICU). They will ensure the delivery of high-quality patient care, promote a positive work environment, and facilitate interdisciplinary collaboration to achieve optimal patient outcomes.

Requirements

  • Current and valid state RN License.
  • Current BLS (AHA) upon hire and maintain current.
  • Current ACLS (AHA) 30 days upon hire and maintain current.
  • Behavioral Violence Prevention (BVP) certificate within 6 months of hire and maintain current.

Nice To Haves

  • Previous supervisory experience, one to two years, in acute care hospital, ICU setting, preferred.
  • Minimum of one year staff nurse in an acute care hospital setting; Critical Care setting preferred.
  • CCRN (AACN) within 2 years of hire, preferred.
  • Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing (BSN), preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership and direction to the nursing staff in the ICU.
  • Ensure that patients in the ICU receive high-quality, safe, and effective care, you will also monitor patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes to ensure adherence to standards of practice and protocols.
  • Distribute resources, encompass staffing, equipment, and supplies, to fulfill the requirements of patients and staff, proactively identify and resolve any challenges pertaining to resource availability or usage.
  • Coordinate care with physicians, nurse practitioners, respiratory therapists, pharmacists, and other healthcare professionals involved in the care of ICU patients.
  • Serve as an advocate for patients and families, ensure their needs, preferences, and concerns are addressed, push for patient safety, quality of care, and adherence to ethical principles.
  • Participate in quality improvement activities and initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care outcomes, optimizing processes, and ensuring compliance with regulatory requirements and standards.
  • Provide guidance, education, and mentorship to nursing staff in the Intensive Care Unit, facilitate ongoing professional development through training, continuing education opportunities, and performance feedback.
