Fluidstack•Austin, TX

About The Position

Fluidstack is seeking an ICT Infrastructure Architect to design and implement the physical layer of the data center network for hyperscale sites. This role involves owning the end-to-end physical implementation of the data center network, including fiber plant architecture, transceiver planning, and structured cabling integration. The architect will collaborate with various teams on power, cooling, space, pathways, cabinets, and racks, and will be responsible for breaking down DCN logical port maps into physical cross-connect and patching schedules. The position requires defining cassette types, trunk counts, and structured cabling hierarchy, as well as modeling fiber utilization and selecting appropriate optics based on reach and loss budget. The architect will also own the ICT Basis of Design, SOPs, and master specifications, and integrate with DCIM tools to track network assets.

Requirements

  • Designed hyperscale or cloud-provider data center networks (1000+ racks, 100K+ fiber strands).
  • Expert in structured cabling systems (Corning, Panduit, CommScope) and MPO/MTP ecosystems.
  • Deep knowledge of optical standards (IEEE 802.3, OIF) and transceiver technologies (400G/800G DR4, FR4, LR4, SR8).
  • Proficient in fiber loss budgets, dispersion, and testing methodologies (OTDR, insertion loss, polarity verification).
  • Experience integrating designs into DCIM tools (NetBox, Remedy, or custom hyperscaler equivalents).

Nice To Haves

  • RCDD certification.
  • Coherent DCI experience.
  • Multi-generation optics roadmapping experience.

Responsibilities

  • Own the end-to-end physical implementation of the data center network: fiber plant architecture, transceiver planning, and structured cabling integration for hyperscale sites.
  • Collaborate with CSA, MEP, and construction teams on power, cooling, space, pathways, cabinets, and racks, and develop, read, and interpret construction drawings in Bluebeam, ACC, and Procore.
  • Break down DCN logical port maps (TOR, spine, super-spine, DCI) into physical cross-connect and patching schedules, and automate port-to-fiber mapping at 100K+ ports per site.
  • Define cassette types (MTP/MPO Base-8/12/16), trunk counts, and structured cabling hierarchy, and model fiber utilization and overbuild for two to three hardware generations.
  • Select optics (400G/800G DR4, FR4, LR4, SR8, coherent DCI) by reach and loss budget, validate interoperability across vendors and generations, and maintain loss-budget and margin models for every link type.
  • Own the ICT Basis of Design, SOPs, and Division 26/27/28/33 master specifications, and integrate with DCIM (NetBox, custom tools) to track strands, ports, and patching.

Benefits

  • Competitive total compensation package (salary + equity).
  • Retirement or pension plan, in line with local norms.
  • Health, dental, and vision insurance.
  • Generous PTO policy, in line with local norms.
  • Equity in the form of restricted stock units.
  • Commitment to pay equity and transparency.
