About The Position

The Schottenstein Center at The Ohio State University is seeking an Intermittent Ice Maintenance Technician to maintain high-quality ice surfaces for practices and events. This role involves operating ice resurfacing machines and edgers, performing routine equipment checks, and adhering to safety protocols. The position offers flexible hours and the opportunity to work behind the scenes at a premier arena.

Requirements

• Mechanical inclination is a plus.
• Experience with basic tools.
• Troubleshooting skills.
• Experience and ability to operate ice resurfacing equipment (Zamboni ice resurfacer and edger).
• Ability to lift heavy objects (up to 25 lbs).
• Ability to stand, walk, and work in cold and slippery environments.
• High standards for ice quality, cleanliness, and precise operation.
• Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as events dictate.

Responsibilities

• Operate ice resurfacer (Zambonis) and edger to maintain ice sheet for both practices and game.
• Take regular depth measurements and monitor humidity levels.
• Perform routine checks on machines before each use.
