About The Position

Share your passion for skating and help others build their skills on the ice. Under general supervision, the Ice-Skating Instructor plays a key role in delivering high-quality skating lessons while supporting the overall guest experience at the St. Peters Rec-Plex. Starting pay for Instructor Trainees is $15.00/hour. Upon completion of trainee requirements, full Instructors are paid $24.00/hour.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 17 years of age.
  • Must be a U.S. citizen or lawfully authorized alien worker.
  • Must be able to maintain Professional Instructors membership with ISI.
  • Must accept delegated responsibilities willingly.
  • Must be able to work nights, weekends, and holidays, as required.
  • Must be able to maintain a positive self-image for the City and Department.

Nice To Haves

  • First Aid and CPR certification.
  • Knowledge and experience in both ISI and USFS.
  • Experience teaching Axel and above elements.

Responsibilities

  • Instruct group classes and private ice-skating lessons.
  • Maintain class attendance records and administer skating testing.
  • Assist with annual competitions and shows.
  • Provide responsive, friendly service by addressing guest questions and concerns.
  • Administer first aid when needed and uphold safety and sanitation standards.
  • Prepare the ice, facility, and equipment to ensure a safe and welcoming environment.
  • Communicate Rec-Plex policies, procedures, and programs to guests.
  • Accurately maintain all required records.
