IC&E Technician
About The Position
The ICE Technician will analyze and correct electrical problems and repair and overhaul electrical equipment and controls. Calibrate control valves, level, and flow instrumentation. Able to connect to and troubleshoot PLC programming and DCS issues. Dismantle and install machinery and service equipment as needed. The Temple Power Facility consist of (2) 766MW combined cycle power blocks, each with (2) Siemens SGT6-5000F gas turbines, (1) Siemens SST6-5000 Steam Turbine; and (3) Siemens Generators, including all associated gas and electrical interconnection systems and facilities and other associated equipment, systems, and structures; water treatment, cooling, supply, and discharge systems; plant auxiliary and support facilities. Each plant is interconnected to Oncor Electric Delivery Company at 345 kV and sells power into the ERCOT market.
Requirements
- High School Diploma/GED.
- Trade school, military, or technical training school.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience in instruments and controls of electrical applications.
- Must be able to repair control valves and positioners.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical control systems.
- Knowledge of medium voltage electrical equipment rated 480 volts through 5,000 volts.
- Knowledge of 480 volt through 5,000-volt cable terminations and splices.
- Must be able to troubleshoot and repair low voltage electrical control systems.
- Knowledge of electrical components.
- Able to perform switching on 345,000-volt systems.
- Ability to understand Electrical Area Classification and installation requirement for electrical equipment in hazardous areas.
- Understanding of digital control systems and valves, transmitters, and transducers.
- Troubleshooting skills for 480 volts through 15,000-volt motor and circuit breaker controls
- All candidates will participate in the post-offer physical examination and drug screening and post-employment random drug screening.
- Applicants must possess a valid driver's license and maintain a clean driving record, as this position requires occasional travel for company business.
- Candidates should be comfortable operating a vehicle as part of their job responsibilities and must meet any applicable company and insurance requirements.

Responsibilities
- Install, repair, maintain, and calibrate indicating and controlling digital and electronic instruments that measure and control process variables, such as pressure, flow, level, temperature, motion, force, and chemical composition using hand tools and precision instruments.
- Interpret technical documentation: data sheets, vendor manuals, troubleshooting flowcharts, etc. Interpret/ prepare technical drawings from simple schematics to complex P&IDs, instrument loop diagrams, and PLC ladder logic diagrams.
- Understand digital control systems and valves, transmitters, and transducers.
- Configure digital transmitters. Interpret data from advanced diagnostic programs for instrumentation.
- Disassemble malfunctioning instruments, examine, and test mechanism and circuitry for defects.
- Troubleshoot equipment in or out of control loops and replace or repair defective parts.
- Reassemble instruments, test, and calibrate assembly for conformance with specifications using test instruments such as multi-meters, manometers, smart communicators, and pressure instruments.
- Maintain and control spare parts inventory and assist in budget planning and control.
- Knowledge of medium voltage electrical equipment rated 480 volts through 5,000 volts.
- Knowledge of 480 volt through 5,000-volt cable terminations and splices.
- Knowledge of electrical components.
- Inspect instruments periodically and make minor calibration adjustments to assure they are functioning within specified controlled variables.
