About The Position

The Office of Research Support and Compliance (ORSC) at The University of Texas at Austin ensures that University research complies with applicable laws, regulations, and University policies. It educates and supports the research community on regulatory matters related to human subjects, animal research, biosafety, financial conflicts of interest, and research integrity. The IACUC and IBC Analyst or Senior IACUC and IBC Analyst reviews research submissions overseen by the Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (IACUC) and Institutional Biosafety Committee (IBC). The role helps ensure that hazards are identified, safety considerations are documented, and animal and biosafety protocols are congruent. It serves as a liaison among IACUC, IBC, the Animal Resources Center (ARC), and Environmental Health and Safety (EHS). The analyst role reviews IACUC submissions and assigned biosafety registrations, coordinates with EHS on safe practices and risk assessments, supports the development of procedures and training materials, and provides guidance to the research community. The senior analyst performs more independent and critical protocol analysis, works directly with researchers to resolve submission issues, coordinates strategic responses to research hazards, develops and delivers guidance and training, and improves processes and tools for registering and tracking protocols. Both roles support committee reviews, program reviews, and inspections; prepare correspondence and reports; maintain knowledge of relevant regulations; and may perform other duties as assigned. The position is based in Austin, Texas, and may work around standard office conditions. It involves repetitive keyboard use at a workstation and occasional travel. The role is expected to continue, with a 40-hour weekly schedule. UT Austin lists employer-paid basic medical coverage, retirement contributions, paid vacation and sick time, paid holidays, and hybrid telework among its benefits.
