The I&E Technician position is responsible for the day-to-day maintenance and reliable operation of equipment, instrumentation, analyzers, and electrical systems. Requirements

  • Minimum high school diploma or equivalent
  • Candidates must have valid employment authorization in the U.S. and must not require visa sponsorship now or in the future.
  • This position is not open for non-immigrant visa sponsorship.
  • Strong verbal & written communication skills.
  • Highly organized with the ability to handle multiple tasks & prioritize work.
  • Minimum 6 years I&E experience, plant environment preferred.

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of the use of a computerized maintenance management system.
  • Ability to maintain, repair, and calibrate analyzers, transmitters, control valves, etc.
  • Basic understanding of the facility’s control system, with the ability to develop detailed understanding.
  • Thorough knowledge of the operation and safety aspects of the MCC/switchgear.
  • Basic understanding of the facility's process, with the ability to develop detailed understanding.
  • Able to operate forklift and other machinery.
  • 2 year technical degree preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Day to day maintenance and reliable operation of equipment, instrumentation, analyzers, and electrical systems.
  • Advanced Analyzer Technologies: Deep knowledge of, and hands-on experience with, devices like Gas Chromatographs (GCs), spectrometers, pH/conductivity meters, oxygen detectors, and continuous emission monitors (CEMs).
  • Sample Handling Systems: Proficiency in designing, troubleshooting, and maintaining the sample conditioning systems (tubing, valves, pumps, filters) that deliver representative samples to the analyzers.
  • Calibration & Testing: Ability to use precise calibration tools and standards to certify that equipment yields accurate and repeatable measurements.
  • Troubleshooting & Problem Solving: Strong electro-mechanical aptitude to quickly identify the root cause of analyzer failure and implement corrective actions.
  • Signal Analysis: Capability to interpret peak integration, gating techniques, and spectral data (e.g., IR/UV absorption) to diagnose instrument drift or faults.
  • Process Automation: Familiarity with plant-wide automation and control networks, including Distributed Control Systems (DCS) and Supervisory Control and Data Acquisition (SCADA).
  • Industrial Protocols & Wiring: Understanding of industrial communication standards (e.g., HART, Modbus), loop checks, and the ability to read complex Piping and Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs) and electrical schematics.
  • Safety & Regulatory Compliance: Strict adherence to safety protocols for explosive or toxic environments (e.g., hazardous area classifications).
  • Emissions & Safety Standards: Knowledge of environmental and safety guidelines required by agencies like the EPA and OSHA.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Ability to communicate clearly with control room operators, plant engineers, and mechanics to resolve plant-wide process or instrument deviations.
  • Documentation & Record-Keeping: Diligent maintenance of equipment logs, calibration records, and ISO-compliant documentation.
