About The Position

The I&E Technician I is responsible for the inspection, maintenance, service and repair of instrumentation and electrical equipment used in the transportation and storage of natural gas. This role requires foundational knowledge of job procedures and tools. Works under direct to moderate supervision. Communicates routine information and escalates non-routine issues as appropriate. Problems faced are generally routine and are resolved by following established procedures and guidance. Demonstrates integrity, accountability and transparency; upholds BKV standards, values and culture.

Requirements

  • Foundational understanding of natural gas industry standards, emerging issues and regulatory requirements.
  • Knowledge of electrical systems, instrumentation control systems and diagnostics.
  • Basic knowledge of equipment such as sensors, transmitters, control valves, programmable logic controllers (PLCs) and distributed control system (DCS).
  • Basic working knowledge of Microsoft Office and job-related applications.
  • Understands how to use digital tools to make informed decisions.
  • Demonstrated interpersonal, collaboration and communication skills, including clear shift handoff and accurate reporting of operating conditions.
  • Effective communication skills to collaborate with various internal teams and stakeholders.
  • Ability to thrive in a dynamic fast-paced environment.

Responsibilities

  • Assist with maintaining and troubleshooting instrumentation equipment such as pressure, control valves, transmitters, analyzers, temperature and flow sensors.
  • Assist with diagnosing and troubleshooting electrical and instrumentation issues such as identifying and repairing electrical faults, instrument inaccuracies or control system malfunctions.
  • Assist with the installation of new equipment, systems or upgrades following industry standards and project specifications.
  • Inspect, repair and maintain electrical systems including motors, switchgear, transformers, and lighting.
  • Conduct tests and calibrations to ensure accurate measurements and control system functionality including control systems (DCS) and programmable logic controllers (PLCs).
  • Assist with preventive maintenance activities for instrumentation and electrical equipment to reduce downtime and minimize the risk of equipment failures.
  • Ensure all electrical and instrumentation systems meet safety standards, environmental regulations, safety protocols and company policies.
  • Respond to emergencies and unexpected issues such as equipment failures or safety incidents.
  • Collaborate with other team members, including engineers, operations and other technicians to effectively address issues and optimize processes.
  • Stay current on the latest technology and industry trends through continuous learning and training.
  • Perform other duties as required.
