About The Position

Performs routine maintenance, installation and integration of several types of process control instrumentation equipment such as transmitters, controllers, integrators, recorders, process and analytical machinery. Performs with tools of the trade, including electrical/instrument tools and fluke meters. Makes repairs to electrical power, motor, and motor control circuits. Must be able to effectively communicate and speak English. This is a long-term maintenance project with no per diem.

Requirements

  • High School graduate or GED equivalent.
  • Proficiency in both oral and written communication.
  • Ability to interpret schematic drawings (to component level) of pneumatic loops, hardware relay logic diagrams, PLC control programs, and motor control circuit diagrams.
  • Ability to associate circuit symbols with actual components, including solid-state electronics (transistors, integrated chips, resistors, capacitors, etc.) and common industrial electrical hardware (relays, contactors, starters, etc.).
  • Good mathematical skills, including basic algebra for calculation of electrical/electronic equations.
  • Ability to install and bend electrical conduit of various trades, sizes (pvc, emt, rigid) and install instrumentation tubing.
  • Ability to analyze problems, identify solutions, project consequences of proposed actions, and implement recommendations in support of goals.
  • Ability to lift and maneuver 50 pounds.

Responsibilities

  • Field fault analysis to determine if an instrument has failed or if it is a process problem.
  • Field calibration of instrumentation utilizing proper test equipment.
  • Complete overhaul in shop environment including component replacements, alignments, and calibration to specifications.
  • Repair of signal transmission facilities such as tubing and wiring.
  • Work with pneumatic, electronic, and digital instrumentation equipment.
  • Fault analysis of hardwire relay logic, motor control circuits, motor power circuits (120V to 480V 3phase), and common utility/lighting circuits.
  • Installation of new control circuits and modification of existing instrument/electrical systems, including design, load, and implementation of new control logic.
  • Fault analysis of PLC-based systems with control logic modification if required.
  • Develops, prepares, and presents recommendations and reports as requested.
