About The Position

Syensqo is looking for an I&E Engineer to provide instrumentation and electrical control engineering services. This includes design, estimating, reporting, cost control for project implementation, system troubleshooting, and support for day-to-day maintenance activities. The role involves promoting the use of instrumentation and automation technology to improve equipment effectiveness, production performance, and reduce maintenance costs. You will assist maintenance technicians and production with troubleshooting and diagnostics, and work with maintenance personnel to develop, design, and ensure the reliability of new and modified installations. A key responsibility is developing a life cycle asset management program for the site's I&E control equipment. Collaboration with process control engineers, process engineers, and production team members is essential for designing and deploying new instrumentation and control strategies to increase product yield, reduce energy usage, and optimize product value. You will also coach and mentor personnel on instrumentation technology and generate/champion Industrial Automation improvement projects. Maintaining accurate design drawings and specifications, and participating in or leading HAZOP Team studies are also part of the role. The position is responsible for supervising contractor work.

Requirements

  • B.S. in Electrical or Chemical Engineering. Candidates with other technical degrees who have demonstrated a strong background in application and implementation of process field instrumentation in an industrial manufacturing environment will be considered.
  • Six (6) years experience in an industrial manufacturing environment in either chemical or refining processes working in support of l&E maintenance activities while serving as a subject matter expert in application, implementation, and troubleshooting field instrumentation.
  • Highly motivated, self-directed and able to function in a team-based environment.
  • Ability to work well with other departments (internal and external), especially the unit maintenance and operations team members.
  • Dedication and ability to be a safety champion.
  • Specification of industrial instrumentation to measure pressure, temperature, flow and density.
  • Specification of valves and final control elements used in a chemical manufacturing environment.
  • Design and development of loop sheets, equipment control wiring diagrams, and motor control circuitry.
  • Defining and selecting instrumentation and valve materials of construction for chemical compatibility.
  • Experience defining, configuration, and commissioning Variable Speed Drives.
  • Experience in a PSM manufacturing environment.

Responsibilities

  • Adhere to all plant HSE standards, policies and procedures.
  • Promote the utilization of instrumentation and automation technology to increase the overall equipment effectiveness, increase production unit performance, and reduce total maintenance costs.
  • Assist maintenance technicians and production with troubleshooting and diagnostics.
  • Work with maintenance personnel and departmental resources to develop, design and ensure the reliability of new and modified installations.
  • Develop a life cycle asset management program for the site I&E control equipment.
  • Work with the process control engineers, process engineers, and production team members to design and deploy new instrumentation and control strategies to increase product yield, reduce energy usage and optimize the value of products.
  • Coach and mentor personnel on the concepts and use of various instrumentation technology.
  • Generate and champion new Industrial Automation improvement projects, which enhance unit operation, effectiveness, quality or operability.
  • Create and maintain accurate and up to date design drawings and specifications.
  • Participate, lead and provide support to HAZOP Team studies.
  • Supervise work of contractors.
