About The Position

This role is generally responsible for performing routine design of less complex electrical and instrumentation assignments using theoretical knowledge and practical design methods. This level is expected to assist in the design of larger and more complex electrical and instrumentation assignments and will be performed under close supervision. The primary responsibilities include working with direction from an Engineer and/or Sr. Designer, interfacing with other disciplines, and meeting project schedule deadlines. The position involves performing fieldwork, taking measurements, and as-building existing systems. There is an expectation to learn senior design skills to support department needs. This role also includes Material Take Off (MTO) for estimating required materials and the ability to manage multiple projects while maintaining schedules. The designer will be responsible for the design, review, and maintenance of various I&E drawings such as P&I’s, single lines, motor schematics, I/O Drawings, Panel schedules and loadings, Cable tray routes, CCS and M&E databases.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of relevant industrial experience in electrical and instrumentation drafting and design.
  • E&I designer with 5+ years’ experience in the design of Instrumentation and Electrical Systems including, but not limited to, PLC, DCS, Motor Schematics, P&I’s, single lines and logic drawings.
  • Proficient in MicroStation, Excel and Word.
  • Demonstrate the ability to design in congested operating areas.
  • Must have fieldwork experience.
  • Ability to work in an operating chemical plant in the heat and humidity of South Mississippi.
  • Must be authorized to work in the United States.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate degree in Engineering Technology or Computer-Aided Drafting is preferred.
  • PDMS/E3D experience a plus.
  • Prefer MicroStation but would consider AutoCAD.

Responsibilities

  • Work with direction of Engineer and/or Sr Designer and interface with other disciplines.
  • Meet all deadlines as required by project schedule.
  • Perform necessary fieldwork, pulling measurements, as-building existing systems, etc.
  • Learn Senior design skills to continue to grow and support the department needs.
  • Perform Material Take Off (MTO) - Estimating required material for projects.
  • Work on various projects and maintain project schedule.
  • Design, Review and Maintain all manner of I&E drawings including but not limited to, P&I’s, single lines, motor schematics, I/O Drawings, Panel schedules and loadings, Cable tray routes, CCS and M&E databases.
