The Junior I&E Designer/Estimator position is a key role within the company and serves as a strong entry point for future development. Scope The Junior I&E Designer/Estimator supports both the design and estimating functions for electrical and instrumentation systems used in modularized process packages. This role assists with reviewing customer RFQs, contributing to the sizing and selection of instrumentation and electrical components, and supporting the development of project estimates. This position is involved in all aspects of the bidding process for electrical and instrumentation scopes, including the development of labor and material requirements. Responsibilities include assisting with material take-offs, gathering vendor pricing, and supporting the preparation of accurate and competitive proposals aligned with project specifications. In addition to estimating responsibilities, this role assists in developing electrical and instrumentation design deliverables, including wiring diagrams, loop diagrams, panel layouts, and other related drawings based on P&IDs and customer specifications. Working under the guidance of senior team members, this position helps ensure designs and estimates are accurate, compliant with applicable standards, and aligned with project requirements. Exposure to custody transfer oil and gas measurement systems is a plus. This role supports overall project success by contributing to both technical design quality and cost accuracy.

Requirements

  • 2-5 years of experience in electrical/instrumentation design, estimating, or related field.
  • Strong understanding of industrial electrical systems and instrumentation.
  • Proficient in reading and interpreting P&IDs, electrical drawings, and specifications.
  • Experience developing BOMs and cost estimates.
  • Proficiency in AutoCAD (or similar design software).
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and MS Office Suite.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong communication and problem-solving skills.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with modular/skid systems, fabrication, or oil & gas environments preferred.
  • Exposure to custody transfer oil and gas measurement systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in developing cost estimates for bids and contract revisions.
  • Create Bills of Materials (BOMs) and proposals.
  • Perform preliminary sizing and component selection on systems per project requirements.
  • Participate in the administration of bids, inquiry documents, scope of work, and schedules related to the job.
  • Collaborate with customers, vendors, and other personnel in defining the scope of work and specifications.
  • Apply industry standards and codes to all job specifications.
  • Once the project is awarded, assist with technical compliance during final design, procurement, and construction.
  • Assist in developing electrical and instrumentation drawings, including: Wiring diagrams, Loop diagrams, Panel layouts, Basic electrical schematics.
  • Interpret P&IDs and assist in translating them into design documents.
  • Support selection and sizing of instrumentation and electrical components.
  • Ensure drawings and designs follow company standards and applicable codes.
  • Collaborate with engineering, procurement, and operations teams.
  • Assist with maintaining project documentation and file organization.
  • Support procurement by verifying material specifications.
  • Provide support during fabrication and assembly as needed.
  • Communicate with internal teams and vendors to clarify information.
