The INSTRUMENT & CONTROLS ELECTRICIAN for the Central Utilities Plant (CUP) is responsible for the daily technical activities related to instrumentation, control systems, Continuous Emissions Monitoring Systems (CEMS), and computer systems that ensure the reliable and continuous operation of the CUP. This role ensures all instrumentation and control equipment is maintained within design parameters and complies with all applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures, while prioritizing safety. The technician will diagnose, repair, calibrate, maintain, and install various control system components, troubleshoot electronic circuitry and process control equipment, and optimize plant performance through logic development, programming changes, and PID loop tuning. Additionally, the role involves testing and adjusting input/output devices, maintaining documentation, coordinating contractors, managing inventory, and ensuring a clean and safe work environment. The technician must identify workplace hazards, implement safe work practices, collaborate with other departments, and potentially provide support for high voltage switching.
