About The Position

Controls and Instrumentation Technician responsible for all instrumentation and controls and maintaining of systems for the district energy plants producing steam and chilled water and its energy transfer stations. This role involves process control instrumentation maintenance and programming of the distributed control system and its peripherals, working extensively with Emerson DeltaV, Allen-Bradley PLCs and other types of logic controllers. The technician will inspect, test, adjust, and repair electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems. They will also plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance work orders, review them for completeness, and reconcile them with contractor invoices. Additionally, the role involves issuing KPI reports from the process control Delta V historian and programming and tuning process control loops, including PID and 'cascade' control loops.

Requirements

A minimum 2-year technical degree in electrical, controls or instrumentation engineering.
In lieu of a bachelor's degree, a 2-year associates degree in controls or instrumentation and 5 years of experience in process controls and instrumentation in an industrial environment will be considered.
Must be able to basic understanding of programming, troubleshoot and maintain all instruments and logic controllers which utilizes programming languages: plain English structured text, sequential function chart, function block diagram and ladder logic.

Will work extensively with Emerson DeltaV, Allen-Bradley PLCs and other types of logic controllers.
Will work extensively with Emerson Delta V, Allen-Bradley PLC or other types of PID controllers.

Responsibilities

Responsible for all instrumentation and controls and maintaining of systems for the district energy plants producing steam and chilled water and its energy transfer stations.
Responsible for process control instrumentation maintenance and programming of the distributed control system and its peripherals.
Inspects, tests, adjusts, and repairs electric, electronic, mechanical, and pneumatic instruments and systems used to indicate, record, and control.
Inspects meters, indicators, and gauges to detect failures and process defects.
Calibrate accuracy of flowmeters, pressure gauges, temperature indicators, controllers, and other recording, indicating, or controlling instruments to locate defective components in system, using test equipment, such as pressure gauges, mercury manometers, potentiometers, pulse and signal generators, ammeters, voltmeters, and power meters.
Plan and schedule corrective and preventive maintenance work orders for all types of instruments.
Review work orders for completeness including auditing labor hours, parts and contract vendors.
Responsible for reconciling work orders with contractor invoices.
Work with management to issue KPI reports from the process control Delta V historian.
Program process control loops, tune control loops, be familiar with PID and 'cascade' control loops.
