About The Position

Under direct supervision, the I&C Technician Trainee inspects, tests, repairs, and calibrates instrument systems, including reactor and turbine plant control and protective equipment, radiation counting and detecting instrumentation, and security equipment. The position supports maintenance and testing of plant instrumentation, relays, bulk power system equipment, and complex supervisory, telemetering, tone, and carrier equipment. The role also includes completing an I&C Technician qualification book, assisting other maintenance and modifications crafts, and performing assigned emergency response duties.

Requirements

Associate's degree in a technical discipline, such as Electronics, Electrical, or Nuclear; alternatively, a high school diploma and applicable college-level coursework, including math such as algebra, calculus, or trigonometry and science such as physics.
Ability to pass pre-employment testing.
Must be able to work different shifts.
Excellent communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
Must meet NRC psychological testing regulations.
Must satisfactorily complete Plant Access and Radiation Safety Training, including respirator qualifications, and maintain unescorted access.
May be subject to certification and recertification with periodic reviews if required by NRC or industry standards.
Must be physically capable of performing the essential functions of the position.

Responsibilities

Test all types of meters and gauges in the plant.
Perform corrective or routine maintenance, including decontamination, cleaning, and replacing circuit components.
Maintain accurate records of instrument calibration and work performed.
Install, test, and maintain relays used with complex control systems and equipment arrangements at major bulk power system stations.
Test bulk power system equipment, including large circuit breakers.
Test and maintain complex supervisory, tone, telemetering, and carrier equipment.
Review and analyze problems and recommend improvements or modifications to organization, procedures, policies, standards, specifications, methods, processes, and equipment.
Support decontamination, housekeeping, painting, calibration, tool room work, and other duties as assigned.
Provide training and oversight to other personnel.
Perform emergency response duties as assigned.
Assist other maintenance and modifications crafts.
Complete an I&C Technician qualification book.
