About The Position

The I&C Specialist III is responsible for utilizing and programming PLC control systems, SCADA Systems, and Human Machine Interface software to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for water/wastewater projects. The I&C Specialist III utilizes AutoCAD to design and develop complex instrument control loops, instrument and electrical installation details, instrument location drawings, motor control schematics, conduit routing, and control panel design.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in electrical engineering or related field required.
  • Requires 15 years of I&C design and PLC and SCADA programming experience.
  • Must have extensive experience with system networking, I&C Drawings (loops, cabinet layout/wiring) and P&ID drawings.
  • Requires extensive experience with programming PLCs and HMIs, and knowledge of various PLCs and SCADA software.
  • Extensive experience troubleshooting problems in operational situations.
  • Working knowledge of Microsoft Word, Excel, and Outlook required.
  • The ability to balance multiple work assignments on multiple projects at the same time is required.
  • The ability to work alone but also effectively as part of a team is required.
  • Requires process-oriented thinking with strong organizational and technical skills.
  • Requires maintaining a level of precision and accuracy appropriate to the project demands.
  • Requires excellent communication, and the ability to take and understand directives from Project Managers, Contractors, and Regulators.
  • The ability to complete work consistently, with moderate flexibility to accommodate varying project demands is required.
  • Candidates are required to have a valid driver's license and an acceptable motor vehicle and criminal record as determined by McKim & Creed.
  • Candidates are required to pass a pre-employment drug screening.

Responsibilities

  • Utilize and program PLC control systems, SCADA Systems, and Human Machine Interface software to effectively design and implement instrumentation and control systems for water/wastewater projects.
  • Prepare specifications and drawings, write control system descriptions, and perform start up and commissioning activities with minimal input from other personnel.
  • Understand and implement communications systems such as Ethernet based local area networks and wireless radio systems.
  • Create instrument material take-offs from drawings.
  • Work closely with Project Managers, project team, and clients to implement solutions.
