The I&C Electrician, reporting to the Maintenance Lead, is responsible for maintaining, troubleshooting, and performing breakdown recovery work for plant equipment to ensure smooth operation. This role requires expertise in industrial electrical systems for troubleshooting, repairing, installing, and maintaining equipment used in the monitoring and control of processing equipment.

Requirements

  • 442A Industrial Electrician Certification/ 309A Construction and Maintenance Electrician with industrial experience required
  • Minimum 5 years of industrial maintenance experience, ideally in metal recycling or manufacturing.
  • High school diploma or GED; technical training in electrical/mechanical systems preferred.
  • Strong knowledge of industrial electrical systems, including motor controls, PLCs, VFDs, and related components.
  • Ability to troubleshoot PLC/HMI systems and perform basic programming adjustments.
  • Understanding of mechanical troubleshooting (hydraulics, pneumatics, general mechanical systems).
  • Ability to read and interpret mechanical blueprints, electrical schematics, and technical documentation.
  • Ability to wear a full-face respirator and meet clean shaven requirements.
  • Applicants for employment in the Canada and US must have work authorization that does not now or in the future require sponsorship of a visa for employment authorization in the United States or Canada and with Cyclic Materials (i.e., H1-B visa, F-1 visa (OPT), TN, L1-A visa or any other non-immigrant status).

  • Dual-ticket Millwright/Electrician is a strong asset.

Responsibilities

  • Assist in equipment installation and setup.
  • Support the definition of preventive maintenance (PM) requirements, spare parts lists, and work order system needs.
  • Contribute to writing SOPs and maintenance work permits.
  • Participate in Functional Acceptance Testing (FAT) as required.
  • Complete all pre-production training.
  • Install, inspect, maintain, troubleshoot, and repair plant electrical, instrumentation, and other mechanical equipment.
  • Diagnose issues involving motors, VFDs, PLCs, HMIs, sensors, switches, flow meters, pumps, agitators, crushers, shredders, and milling systems.
  • Perform preventive maintenance and use diagnostic tools to reduce equipment downtime.
  • Support millwrighting tasks and perform mechanical installations or repairs within qualification scope.
  • Assist with equipment upgrades and system improvements.
  • Maintain accurate records of inspections, repairs, work orders, and parts usage.
  • Coordinate with operations, production, and maintenance teams to resolve equipment issues.
  • Communicate equipment status, repair requirements, and parts needs to supervisors.
  • Follow all safety procedures, including lock-out/tag-out (LOTO).
  • Support facility-wide environmental, safety, and compliance efforts.
  • Assist with installing new equipment and implementing system upgrades to improve operational efficiency.
  • Collaborate with operators, production teams, and maintenance staff to resolve equipment issues and complete work orders.
  • Communicate equipment status, required repairs, and parts needs to supervisors and management.
