I&C Application Software Senior Engineer

About The Position

Engineers hired into the Bettis Shipboard Applications Unit develop and support current and novel embedded software architecture components for shipboard applications. These applications provide user interfaces and controls for propulsion plant systems and safety-critical functions for current and future nuclear Navy ship classes. The role applies embedded software expertise throughout development and support, uses and develops functional requirements to guide application development and testing, and works with the I&C community to identify and address issues found during application testing.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in a related technical, engineering, or science field and at least 6 years of relevant experience; or a master's degree in such a field and at least 4 years of relevant experience; or a doctorate in such a field and at least 1 year of relevant experience.
Alternatively, currently be a Senior Reactor Training Engineer, Refueling Engineer, or Field (RPCO) Engineer at the Company.
All candidates must be U.S. citizens.
Selected applicants must undergo a Federal background investigation and meet eligibility requirements for access to classified matter.
Candidates must be able to pass a drug test in compliance with company policy and 10 CFR 707.

Nice To Haves

A degree in Computer Engineering, Software Engineering, or Electrical Engineering.
Experience in embedded systems or software development.
Experience with C++, Java, or an equivalent object-oriented programming language.
Script development.

Responsibilities

Apply expertise in embedded software applications across all phases of development and support.
Utilize and develop functional requirements to drive application development and test component functionality.
Collaborate with other members of the I&C community to identify and address issues experienced during application testing.
