Entry Level Hypersonics Systems Engineer
About The Position
Leidos Defense is seeking an entry-level Systems Engineer to support an active hypersonics production program. Working directly with the Lead Systems Engineer, the engineer will develop test specifications and manage requirements to help ensure the hypersonic system transitions from development to production. The position supports the systems engineering team in maintaining requirements databases and ensuring requirements are verified through test and manufacturing. The engineer will collaborate with Hardware Development, Integration, and Test teams while gaining hands-on production systems engineering experience. The role offers mentorship from senior engineers and the opportunity to transition to other programs in Leidos’ engineering portfolio after the current program is completed. The position is based in or near Huntsville, North Alabama; candidates must live in the area or be willing to relocate.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Systems Engineering, Software Engineering, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or an equivalent degree from an ABET-accredited university, with 2 or more years of experience; alternatively, an MS.
- Demonstrated ability to learn from peers and/or mentors.
- Resident of the North Alabama area or willing to relocate to the Huntsville–North Alabama, Alabama area.
- Possess a Secret clearance or have the ability to obtain one.
Nice To Haves
- Experience deriving requirements for integration, manufacturing, and production systems.
- Familiarity with manufacturing processes and procedures.
- Experience with MagicDraw and/or other Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) modeling tools.
- Demonstrated experience effectively leading a team of engineers.
- Demonstrated cross-discipline collaboration.
- Experience accurately estimating engineering effort, such as hours, associated with Systems Engineering tasks.
- Experience with DOORS and/or other requirements database tools.
- Understanding of DoD acquisition processes and methods.
- Experience supporting one or more DoD programs.
- Object Management Group (OMG) Certified System Modeler Professional (OCSMP) certification.
- INCOSE Systems Engineering Professional (SEP) certification (ASEP or CSEP).
