About The Position

The Hyperbaric Technician will perform maintenance activities on hyperbaric chambers and associated systems and equipment. This role involves reporting safety issues, performing data entry, developing reports, and assisting with marketing duties. The technician will also be expected to engage in personal and professional growth, participate in educational programs, and support all medical center and departmental policies and procedures. Proactive identification of safety concerns within the work environment is crucial. The position also includes performing other responsibilities as requested by supervisors.

Requirements

  • Completion of an accredited Hyperbaric training course, or applied health program such as: EMT; LPN; Medical Assistant; Physical Therapy Assistant; or Life Support Tech.
  • Must hold appropriate license or certification in the state of Iowa, strongly preferred.
  • Completion of Hyperbaric training course within 6 months of hire.
  • Certification as a hyperbaric technician (CHT) within 3 years preferred.
  • A minimum of one year of experience in healthcare or the diving industry; Wound care; or hyperbaric medicine and/or experience in emergency medicine or acute medical care is preferred.
  • Must provide proof of Basic Life Support (BLS Healthcare Provider, American Heart Association; or American Red Cross, Professional Rescuer-LIVE class only) via current card prior to employment or within 60 days of hire and maintains status.
  • Completes Mandatory Reporting: Child and Dependent Adult Abuse requirement within 6 months of hire.

Responsibilities

  • Performs maintenance activities of the hyperbaric chambers and associated systems and equipment, as directed.
  • Reports on safety issues and/or concerns.
  • Performs data entry into appropriate clinical data/charge systems and develop reports as requested.
  • Perform marketing duties as needed, intra and interdepartmental.
  • Take an active role in enhancing ability to carry out job functions through personal and professional/job-related growth and development and participates in medical center and/or departmental education programs.
  • Supports and abides by all medical centers, departmental, and safety policies and procedures. Proactively identifies safety concerns surrounding the work environment.
  • Performs other responsibilities as requested by supervisor, manager or department head.
