About The Position

Under the direction of the Safety Director, the Hyperbaric Technician administers hyperbaric oxygen therapy treatments to pediatric, adolescent, adult, and geriatric patients as prescribed by the Hyperbaric Institute Physician. The role operates and maintains hyperbaric chambers and associated systems and equipment, and upholds applicable regulatory requirements of The Joint Commission, the Undersea & Hyperbaric Medical Society (UHMS), and National Fire Protection.

Requirements

• More than 1 year of experience.
• Certification as a Hyperbaric Technologist (CHT) from an approved UHMS program, or one of the listed alternatives: Respiratory Therapist in Iowa, EMT-Paramedic in Iowa, Certified Medical Assistant, or Licensed Physical Therapy Assistant in Iowa.
• Basic Life Support training.
• High school education plus additional coursework.
• Field of study in Health Care Studies or hyperbaric studies.
• Comfort interacting with others about complex, detailed, and/or sensitive topics.
• A high level of interpersonal skills to handle a range of complicated situations.

Nice To Haves

• CHT or Hyperbaric Specialist certification is preferred.
