About The Position

Provides Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy to all referred patients. Administration and monitoring of oxygen therapy. Works collaboratively with all other disciplines at assigned center. This position requires periods of time in which sitting, standing, use of hand and foot motion, vision, hearing, summarizing, focusing with frequent interruptions along with other physical, sensory and cognitive sensory functions are required. Must have full range of body motion. Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 lbs. Vision abilities required include close vision, distance vision and color vision. Must be able to speak and hear clearly. Must have the ability to stand, sit, walk, bend, lean, and squat for long periods of time without hindrance. Must be able to maintain dexterity when pulling, pushing, and gripping emergency carts and stretchers. Must be physically able to perform CPR.

Requirements

  • Must have a valid and current BLS from the American Heart Association
  • Emergency Medical Technician (EMT-B, EMT-I, EMT-CC, EMT-P), Licensed Practical/Vocational Nurse (LVN/LPN) certification in the state in which the Technician will work. Other advanced medical certifications (CMA) will be considered.
  • Basic skills in Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel

Nice To Haves

  • Hyperbaric trained/certified preferred. In the event you work at a UHMS accredited center, you will be required to be Hyperbaric certified.
  • Prior experience with wound care patients preferred
  • Prior experience with an Electronic Medical Records (EMR) system preferred
  • Prior experience working with wound care patients is highly preferred.
  • Strong organizational and problem-solving skills.
  • Exceptional communication skills, both oral and written, as well as interpersonal skills to enable communication and collaboration with physicians, patients, families and ancillary staff
  • Excellent critical thinking skills and ability to make sound, independent clinical judgements.

Responsibilities

  • Preparation of all patients referred for treatment
  • Participates in department’s quality improvement plan and assists in collecting data used for Quality Assurance & Education
  • Document all care provided accurately & completely according to hospital and department policy
  • Provide patient / family education/education materials to include: Assessment of learning needs, abilities and readiness to learn, Documentation of teaching activities, Provision of instruction as appropriate, e.g. equipment, activities after treatment
  • Collaborate with other clinical disciplines in developing plans of care
  • Provide hyperbaric chamber operations and maintenance/cleaning as required
  • Recognize change in the patient’s condition and intervene appropriately
  • Demonstrate competency in core & unit-specific clinical skills
  • In the absence of a front desk coordinator, scheduled patients for HBO therapy or wound care visit, utilizing hospital software / systems as well as RXH’s EMR system may be required
  • In the absence of a front desk coordinator, registration to be accomplished and in accordance with hospital policy and software / systems requirements as well as RXH’s EMR system
  • All patient treatment notes to be entered into RHX’s EMR system
  • Maintain competencies, continuing education and certificates as required
  • HIPAA Compliance – complies with all of the Privacy and Confidentiality Policy and Procedures
  • Adheres to all Patient Safety Initiatives and Infection Control Procedures as outlined in the hospital’s safety manual.
  • Appropriate usage of Hospital resources, supplies and equipment
  • Overtime and schedule flexibility may be required to meet patient needs
  • Provide outstanding customer service skills to patients, patient family members, referring physicians and coworkers
  • Perform pre/post blood glucose monitoring (in certain centers only)
  • Perform all other duties as directed as assigned within scope of practice and other unit related duties as assigned
  • Attend all training and company meetings as required.
