About The Position

The Hydrovac Operator, CDL/DOT Driver will be responsible for driving and maintaining DOT vehicle to pick up and deliver loads, move equipment from location to location as needed and perform other driving needs of the company.

Requirements

  • Class A or B CDL with Tanker and Air Brake Endorsements
  • Valid CDL Medical Certification.
  • Clean Clearinghouse status.
  • vac-truck operator experience
  • Can work in excess of regularly scheduled hours when necessary, including nights, weekends and on-call
  • Can lift 80lbs and complete daily physical activity
  • Willing to travel
  • Proficiency in safety protocols both on and off the jobsite, with a focus on maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Adept knowledge of traffic laws and equipment operation ordinances.
  • Clean Motor Vehicle Report (MVR) with no major violations.
  • Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with customers and employees.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills to foster strong working relationships.
  • Ability to utilize tablets for reporting driving hours (ELD).
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to manage multiple responsibilities simultaneously.
  • Thorough understanding of DOT regulations, particularly those related to hazardous materials (Hazmat).
  • Strong attention to detail with a firm commitment to maintaining a safe work environment.
  • Regularly required to use hands to handle or feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; and talk or hear.
  • Frequently required to sit, stand, and walk.
  • Occasionally required to climb, or balance, and stoop, kneel crouch, or crawl.
  • Comfortable with long periods of driving and sitting.
  • Ability to perform tasks that require physical exertion, such as loading and unloading materials.
  • Willingness to work in various weather conditions.
  • Must be able to work flexible/extended hours and travel long distances when necessary.
  • Overnight travel may be required.
  • Occasionally required to lift and/or move up to 80 pounds and to walk up to 1 mile daily.
  • Specific vision abilities by this job include close vision and distance vision.

Responsibilities

  • Safely operate and maintain DOT-regulated equipment and vehicles.
  • Conduct pre-trip and post-trip inspections to ensure safety and operational readiness.
  • Identify and report any vehicle maintenance needs or safety concerns.
  • Maintain required DOT licenses, medical certifications, and endorsements.
  • Abide by applicable road limitations, Hours of Service Rules, and weight restrictions.
  • Keep ELD (Electronic Logging Device) records for Hours of Service.
  • Ensure all required permits, licenses, and certifications are up to date and in compliance with federal and state laws.
  • Always maintain a safe work environment by adhering to health and safety protocols without exception.
  • Respond appropriately to incidents, spills, or emergencies, following company and regulatory protocols.
